Hungry Lotus is a family-run food truck created by Heath and Tam Howitt.
Tam was born and raised in Vietnam, where she learned the flavors and traditions that make Vietnamese food so special. In 2014, she opened her very first little food truck in Eugene, Oregon — Tam’s Place Vietnamese Cuisine. Over the next eight years, Tam poured her heart into cooking, growing her skills, and sharing the food she loves.

In 2023, our family made the move to McAlester, Oklahoma. With the move came a brand-new food truck and a fresh name: Hungry Lotus. It’s more than just Tam and Heath behind the window — Tam’s mom and our two daughters are always hard at work behind the scenes, keeping this truly a family effort.

At Hungry Lotus, we care deeply about people and the food we serve. Every dish is made fresh daily with love and care — no MSG, no microwaves, just real, wholesome ingredients. Our goal is simple: to bring authentic Vietnamese flavors to our community and make every guest feel like family.
