Welcome to our first Blog Post in the Lotus Nation Series where we feature other food trucks. Today we will be featuring a little gem called “Wonderbar”. But the real gem here is Amber. She is just as sweet as her drinks. Anytime we pull up to an event and see the cute little Wonderbar trailer our hearts fill with joy. My personal favorite is a drink called Tan Lines, which has blood orange in it. Everything on the menu is amazing. I think my kids have tried just about every drink she offers!

Who is Wonderbar?

Wonderbar is a retro drink trailer that serves yummy coffees, teas, lemonades, Italian sodas, dirty sodas, and energy drinks. And I’m Amber Shaffer, the woman behind the bar. A nurse turned entrepreneur, trying to bring good vibes and good drinks to Southeast Oklahoma.

What do you love about your job?

I love how creative I get to be from fun drinks to marketing, to decorating the trailer. I also love the freedom of being mobile. I love not being limited to the same spot and scenery and meeting new people from other towns. Probably the thing I love the most is creating an atmosphere, or “vibe”, that’s inviting and fun. Coffee shops in general are feel-good places and being able to bring that cozy, fun atmosphere anywhere I go, is really cool. 

How do people book Wonderbar for an event?

You can submit an event request at www.orderwonderbar.com/contact-us or shoot us a message on Facebook! We can do private parties, corporate, weddings, school events, or festivals. 

Is there anything you want people to know about Wonderbar?

We try to be as inclusive as we can so we offer many sugar free and dye-free syrups options. We also have milk alternatives that are also gluten free. For those who love caffeine but aren’t into coffee or red bulls, we offer a plant based caffeinated syrup we add to our drinks that add the “kick” you need without the crash or headache. 

Also, not many know that we offer online ordering for those who don’t always have time to stand in line. We also offer pay-it-forward drinks that can be purchased on our website or at our trailer to pay for a drink for those who may come through without enough or who just needs a little gift to turn their whole day around. Gift cards and loyalty cards are also available at the trailer. 

What is your top selling drink?

The Blondie. Our white chocolate and English toffee. Our best selling non-coffee drink is our Salty Mermaid, a caffeinated soda made up of blue raspberry, pineapple, coconut, and kiwi flavors. Goes great with our popping pearls. It’s been our best seller from day one.

What is your personal favorite drink you sell?

Right now for coffee I love a hot caramel latte with brown sugar cinnamon in the morning and an All American dirty soda in the afternoon. It’s a Coca Cola with lime, coconut, and a splash of cream. It’s good with Diet Coke too! 

Any advice you have for other food truck owners? 

To not forget to build a brand alongside their business. Yes, the product is important but what will make you stand out among the rest? People love getting to know the mission, the story, the transformation, and the people behind the food. Consistency and online presence is super important, too, in my experience.

When is Wonderbar available?

Our hours and days are fluctuating. (Perks of this biz) We operate most weekdays in various towns while popping up at some events on Saturdays as well. You’ll have to follow us to see where we’ll be! 

Where is your area of operation?

We currently serve Stigler, Eufaula, McAlester, and Wilburton. We are available for events in the SE area of Oklahoma.
